Origin: Japan (organic)

  • 2gr/70ml
  • 70-80°C
  • Whipping up 15sec

This organic, Japanese ceremonial Matcha or green tea powder comes from kagoshima province. Matcha’s production process is similar to that of Gyokuro tea and very labour-intensive. In the shade, the plants make extra chlorophyll, so that the leaves get their bright color. The most beautiful “Tencha” leaves are picked, then steamed and dried. The veins and stems are separated from the rest of the leaf and then the leaf is ground very slowly between two granite stones. This is the expensive, labor-intensive, variant of matcha, which is mainly used in the Japanese tea ceremony. This Matcha is of superior quality and absolutely recommended for daily Matcha enjoyment.

Some Tips

The reason why matcha tea is used in the Buddhist tea ceremony is because the preparation itself is a calming and soothing process.
How to make Matcha tea yourself:
Step 1:
Strain or scoop 1 to 2 bamboo spoons (to taste) of Matcha into a deep round bowl.
Make sure the bowl is spacious enough so that you can whiss the Matcha sufficiently. In our webshop we also offer suitable models.
Then you can gently mash the Matcha with the Matcha beater so that the Matcha dissolves better and foams better.
Step 2:
Add half a cup of water (70-75 ml) of 75-80° C.
Step 3:
Beat the Matcha with an “M” or “W” movement, until you have a fine light green foam layer on the Matcha.
Now your delicious cup of matcha tea is ready to enjoy quietly.

Tip: This matcha is also very nice and cold! You can combine this with ice cubes and grapefruit juice or other fruit juices for a spicy aperitif.
