The cultivar Saemidori, or “bright green” is the result of a cross between the cultivar Aatsuyu and the cultivar Yabukita. This cultivar of the highest level is originally from Kagoshima and is characterized by a fresh, citrusy aroma, a bright green liqueur and a “sweet” taste with deep Umami.
To enhance the cultivar’s natural sweetness, this Sencha is composed of leaves grown 11 days before harvest in a sun-shielded field so that the soft flavors can be extracted after the infusion.
This organic harvest of Saemidori tea leaves is produced at the foot of the Kirishima volcanic mountains. The soil with many nutrients provides the specific taste of beans. The shiny emerald leaves are kneaded into elegant needle shapes, making it an extra pleasure to see the beautiful leaves first, before tasting this sublime sencha tea.
